Hopefully I don't look back on this as a waste of time. I just wanted to do a fun piece of fanart, and the Nintendo dA group gave me the excuse to put off other assignments. @_@
'Jet Force Gemini' for Nintendo 64 is one of my all-time favorite games and it is a shame there were never any sequels made. What I loved about Rareware games is that they had good gameplay combined with great atmosphere. It is hard to find games that can match the mood and tension of a golden age Rareware title.
While this piece is certainly not perfect I had a lot of fun pushing the more technical aspects of the lighting that I usually have passed up in the past. I also approached the shading and ambient color in a new way, so it was satisfying to see myself break through some new barriers. Perhaps all that school work has taught me a thing or two. ~_^
I must admit I am very curious to see how much attention this piece gets. It's definitely better than my Pokemon fanart, but I doubt there are many that even know about this game. If warranted it would be cool to make a Jet Force comic series one day. I guess we'll have to see.
this is still one of hte best Jet Force Gemini artwork on deviantart! maaan, nintendo really need to make a wii U version for this one! the control and the grphics would be awesome!
Too bad Microsoft owns the rights now. I would be fine seeing a new JFG game on 360 or their next-gen console, but sadly Rareware is a shadow of it's former self.
The Stamper Bros. and the teams they fostered in the 90's at Rare were amazing, and it really hurts that this golden age for the studio disappeared.
As awesome as nearly every Mario, Zelda, or even Halo game may be, the world of video game characters feels just a bit more barren without Rareware. I don't think there is any other studio that made such a huge range of memorable video game characters as Rare.
I always want to pull out my copy and play it, but my Gemini twin girls would probably pull on the wired N64 controller. Thank goodness controllers are wireless on modern systems.
that one befit of newer systems is no wire anymore. through feels weird after playing a new system. then going back to a old school one. then realize how much stuff haves improve the last 20 years.
kinda sad we never see it release on any of today systems because of copyright?
